Linda has worked in Early Childhood approx. 16 years (10 years in South Australia and 6 years in Queensland). She commenced her role here in April 2003. Her position is full time. She has 3 children and a husband Martin. She enjoys going to the beach with her family, reading, walking & scrapbooking.

Hello, I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you to our Community Kindergarten. This centre is were magical learning can happen. Friends are made, often for life. Imagination is ignited and extended. Curiosity is aroused through all senses. Individuals are valued and catered for in our play based C&K "Building Waterfalls" curriculum. The director is the person in charge. The director will hold a three or four year university early childhood teaching qualification. All aspects of the effective day-to-day operation of the centre rely on the director. They have a wide range of teaching and managerial skills in relation to:
- Supporting families by providing high quality education and care
- Overseeing the development, implementation and evaluation of the curriculum
- Implementing sound policies and high quality practicies
- Supporting, mentoring and managing staff
- Supporting staff growth - professional development
- Promoting a sense of community within the centre
- Marketing the centre and C&K to the wider community.
EARLY CHILDHOOD TEACHER
The C&K Bundaberg Community Kindergarten employs university qualified early childhood teachers who are registered with the Queensland college of Teachers. The early childhood teacher develops and implements an educational program in collaboration with children and families. At this centre the Director plays a dual role as an early childhood teacher.
ASSISTANT
Assistans work with a specific group of children, supporting the teacher in implementing the care and education program. Assistans will hold, or be studying towards an early childhood certificate/qualification.

QUALIFIED ASSISTANT: MRS. ANN JENNER Qualifications:
Ann has worked in Early Childhood approx. 23 years in NSW and Queensland. She commenced working at the centre in November 1991. Ann has 2 adult children and husband Dennis. Her position is full time. She enjoys reading, dining, scrapbooking, photography and travelling. |

MRS. KIM HELMORE Qualifications:
Kim has worked in early childhood approx. 7 years in Bundaberg in a variety of centres. Kim has 2 children and husband Brett. Kim commenced working at this centre in May 2008. Kim is employed on Mondays and Tuesdays. Her interests are gardening, art, sewing, archery and bush walking. |
ADDITIONAL NEEDS ASSISTANT
Sometimes an additional needs assistant is employed to help facilitate the inclusion of a child with additional needs into the enviroment. The additional needs assistant may hold a variety of qualifications including an early choldhood certificate or human services qualification.
ROLE STATEMENTS OF STAFF
DIRECTOR/TEACHER
General Responsibilities:
• Carry out the policies of the centre
• Work closely with the Management Committee- advising, guiding, consulting, supporting as required
• Actively promote the centre-including fundraising, marketing
• Keep a written curriculum and child developmental records
• Accountable to the Management Committee, prepare report monthly
• Plan for close communication and supervision of all staff
• Develop and maintain close communication with parents and respect confidentiality in matters relating to parents, staff and children
• Develop policies within the centre in partnership with parents
• Responsible for ensuring children’s safety
• Maintain the centre in an orderly and safe condition, reporting issues, dangers and implement Work Place Health and Safety Policy strategies
• Participate in Professional Development courses as per E.C.E award
ASSISTANT (Qualified)
General Responsibilities:
• Accountable to employing body through the Director
• Assist in preparation and supervision of activities as directed
• Model communication positively and contribute ideas, skills to the curriculum and program
• Be flexible to the changing needs and interests of children
• Be clear about Emergency procedures and situations
• Regard information relating to families as confidential and only to be discussed with the Director
• Refer parent concerns to Director
• Be alert to potentially dangerous or disruptive situations, assisting, supervising accordingly
• Attend staff meetings and be able to share observations of children , clarify roles and responsibilities
• Check equipment daily, report maintenance needs and supplies, keep storeroom tidy and care for general appearance of centre
• Other duties may be required as specified by Director and Management Committee relating to the program
• Attendance may be required at Professional Development courses
